Hull FC Ex-Players Memorial Cycle Ride
Yesterday Evening on D-Day anniversary, Andy and the Hull FC Ex-Players association set off on a on a remembrance cycle ride.
They will take the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam, cycling through Holland, Belgium and France, arriving at the cemetery in Arras where the great Hull player Jack Harrison is remembered on the memorial of the battle there in WW1.
Jack Harrison was awarded the Victoria Cross for outstanding bravery on the battlefield, single-handedly charging and silencing an enemy machine gun post, ultimately saving the lives of many of his men. He was never found and is classified as missing in action.
The Hull FC ex-players association will cycle a tough 330 miles over 3 days, honouring the memory of the lives lost during the two world wars. Grange CSE has sponsored this ride, and Andy’s “Big Van” is being utilised as the support vehicle along the route.
We’re all incredibly proud of Andy and his Hull FC comrades taking part in this wonderful display of remembrance. An absolute privilege and an honour.
Well done Andy and the Hull FC Ex-Players!
